URT Touring – Taking Imagination On The Road Again for 2006-2007!

Touring started early for our 2006-2007 season! Are You Ready My Sister? began touring in October and will tour to 11 states this season with over 30 performances! Sister is the uplifting story of Harriet Tubman, courageous “great conductor” of the Underground Railroad, and the Quaker women who helped her bring 300 slaves to freedom. Our cast includes Monique McIntyre, Stephanie Carlson (both in their second year performing with Underground Railway Theater) and our new Stage Manager, Tonee Jordan.

We are also busy with How Do You Spell Hope? as it recently performed for one week at the Roxbury Center for Arts at Hibernian Hall where over 400 audience members enjoyed this wonderful play that weaves together three inspiring stories of courage and compassion in the face of illiteracy. Hope will perform locally in New England this season, and the cast includes Vincent Siders (his second year with Underground Railway Theater), Stephanie Carlson (who is also the Quaker Women in Sister), Tonee Jordan and our new Assistant Stage Manager, Belina Mizrahi.

The Firebird will perform this season with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in May. The Firebird, originally commissioned by the Boston Symphony, tells the beautiful story of friendship between a boy and the mythical Firebird set to the music of Stravinsky’s 1919 suite. The cast includes Debra Wise, Artistic Director for URT, Will Cabell and Andrew Periale. Our staff and crew are thrilled to delight audiences nationally now that we are on the road again!
